The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation following the crash of an experimental aircraft at Langley Air Force Base near Hampton, Virginia, on Thursday afternoon. Officials from the base confirmed to Fox News Digital that first responders were on the scene as of 2:10 p.m.
The aircraft, identified by the NTSB as an MX Aircraft MXS, went down under circumstances that remain unclear. No injuries or fatalities have been reported at this time, and it is unknown how many individuals were onboard at the time of the incident.
This incident comes amid heightened scrutiny of aviation safety following a recent near-miss between a Delta plane and an Air Force jet during a flyover at Arlington National Cemetery, which has been classified as a “loss of separation.”
