FORT WORTH, Texas — A 23-year-old man is in police custody after allegedly beating his mother to death during what he described as an attempted exorcism, according to the Fort Worth Police Department.
The incident unfolded after authorities responded to an anonymous 911 call on [insert date]. The caller reported receiving a disturbing photo on Snapchat showing a woman lying on the ground, covered in what appeared to be blood. The caller provided the address of the individual responsible for the photo, leading police to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers encountered ALEXANDER TAYLOR VALDEZ, who answered the door holding a Bible. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Valdez had visible blood on his face, neck, torso, hands, and feet. He allegedly told officers, “I was doing witchcraft to kill my mom,” and admitted, “There is a dead body in there, it’s my mom.”
Inside the home, police discovered the lifeless body of Valdez’s 58-year-old mother, TERESITA SAYSON, in the master bedroom. Sayson was found with severe trauma to her face and upper body, and a dog was also found dead in the same room. Investigators believe Sayson was bludgeoned with a blunt force object.
A search of the residence revealed a broken jewelry box with blood and human hair on it, which authorities believe may have been used as the murder weapon. Valdez is currently being held on a $750,000 bond and faces a murder charge.
